We currently serve more than 6.5 million households in 14 states through multiple delivery channels, including more than 1,600 financial centers, telephone and Internet banking, and more than 2,700 automated teller machines. We also offer a wide range of small business and commercial banking products and services.
In 1999, Washington Mutual introduced "Occasio," a new concept in retail banking combining a proven sales and service culture with a contemporary retail look and feel to its stores. Its innovative use of technology, design elements and people converge to provide something that banks rarely deliver: an inviting customer experience. To date Washington Mutual has more than 300 Occasio financial centers in new and existing markets.

WM Financial Services (WMFS) is a brokerage firm specializing in helping individuals meet their financial goals. WMFS financial consultants and financial associates assist clients in Washington Mutual's financial centers in 14 states.

The products and services offered through WM Financial Services are not FDIC insured, not insured by any federal government agency, not a deposit, nor are they guaranteed by or obligations of any bank. Home Loans
Washington Mutual's Home Loans Group is the nation's leading mortgage lender. The group services more than 4 million mortgage loans for customers throughout the United States and is the nation's largest mortgage originator and servicer. The Home Loans Group offers a broad array of single-family residential mortgage products in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Customers are served through retail, wholesale, correspondent and consumer direct channels.
The Home Loans Group operates as both a mortgage bank and a portfolio lender. Its product line includes fixed rate loans, adjustable rate mortgages (ARM), government and jumbo loans, as well as prime and sub-prime mortgages (specialty home loans). The Home Loans Group's goal is to help our customers achieve the American dream of home ownership.
Insurance Services
Washington Mutual Insurance Services (WaMu Ins) is a full-service insurance agency providing competitively priced insurance products from a number of carriers to more than 600,000 customers in 41 states. The WaMu Insurance mission is "protecting what matters."
WaMu Ins supports the mortgage lending process by offering fire, homeowner's, flood, earthquake and other property and casualty insurance products. In addition, it offers service and support for a variety of other insurance products including mortgage life, accidental death, vehicle, life, home warranty and pet insurance. Customers can access WaMu Ins via telephone, mail and the Internet. WaMu Ins's home office is in Irvine, California.
Specialty Finance
Our Specialty Finance Group provides consumer finance and specialty commercial lending products under the Washington Mutual and Washington Mutual Finance brands.
Washington Mutual Finance Corporation offers direct consumer installment loans and real estate secured loans, and purchases secured retail installment contracts from local retail establishments. These consumer credit transactions are primarily for personal, family or household purposes. Washington Mutual Finance currently operates over 450 offices located in 24 states, mainly in the southeast, southwest and California.
The Specialty Finance Group was also the nation's #1 originator of multi-family loans in 2000. Commercial and multi-family real estate loans are offered to property owners and developers through 19 Washington Mutual commercial real estate offices in California, Colorado, Minnesota, Oregon, Utah and Washington.
The group also provides other specialty commercial lending in areas including residential builder construction, mortgage banker finance and syndicated finance.
